English Romaji

Inside of my body, and just below my throat

Karada no oku, nodo no mashita
Supposing I do have a soul at all, that is right where you would be - and so: Kokoro ga aru to suru nara, kimi ha soko na n darou kara

I already knew, from quite a while back

Zutto mae kara wakatte-ita kedo
That if I do grow old, I will forget your face completely - so, you know: Toshi toreba kimi no kao mo wasurete-shimau kara sa
Inside of your body, and within your throat, that moment in which your words are formed - I want to know all about it, so: Karada no oku, nodo no naka de, kotoba ga dekiru shunkan wo boku ha shiritai kara

Once the dawn breaks over this night

Kono mama yo ga aketara

These memories - so that they don't dull

Kawakanai1 you ni omoide wo
This melody - so that it isn't lost Nakusanai you ni kono uta wo
Don't forget them; just a little more would do Wasurenaide, mou chotto dake de ii
Of this lonely parade of one Hitori-bocchi no PARE-DO wo

I've always thought this, from quite a while back

Zutto mae kara omotteta kedo
That it must be God that dwells there, within your fingertips Kimi no yubisaki no naka ni ha tabun kami-sama ga sundeiru
Since a time long before today, or even yesterday; since long, long, long ago. Kyou, kinou yori zutto mae kara, zutto sono mukashi no mukashi kara.
I've always known Wakaru n da

Inside of my body, and just below my throat

Karada no oku, nodo no mashita
Those days that I spent merely imitating the songs you wrote Kimi no kaku uta2 wo tada maneru hibi wo

To not forget that time

Wasurenai you ni

Or the temperature of this moment, without you here

Kimi no inai ima no ondo wo

With these memories that haven't dulled

Kawakanai you na omoide de
With this melody I've been unable to lose Nakusenai-de ita kono uta de
Just a bit more, just a little more would do Mou sukoshi de ii, mou chotto dake de ii
Of this lonely parade of one Hitori-bocchi no PARE-DO wo

1 There's actually a typo in the handwritten lyrics for this one, listing this word as 乾かさない. It's correct on the official lyrics page. In some sense, 乾かす would make more sense here, being a transitive verb like 失くす. Ultimately though it seems clear that 想い出 is "reaching backwards" in this line to be the unspoken subject of 乾く, while its を (like the を after 歌) actually marks it as an object of 忘れないで two lines down. But it is a slightly tricky bit of grammar in an already tricky chorus, where every line can reasonably interact with both the preceding and following lines. The misprint is honestly understandable.

2 Unusually, the narrator uses the standard kanji 歌 when referring to this song throughout its lyrics. In every other song, and in the album's supplementary materials, he practically always uses the more poetic 詩 (song; poem) when referring to his own work. Here, the only time he uses 詩 is in reference to the songs written by the addressee - "the songs you wrote (君の書く詩)".
