Let's Dance    踊ろうぜ      6/15

English Romaji

Ah, with a heart clearer than clear

Aa, toumei yori mo sumikitta kokoro de
I'm laughing at the rest of the world Yononaka wo waratte-iru n da yo
Ah, the version of me from way back then Aa, ongaku nanka wo eranda
Choosing music of all things - you must think he's stupid Ano hi no jibun wo baka ni omou ne

All the things I want to convey

Tsutaetai zenbu ha mou
And this song, too, and even my very own voice Kono uta mo jibun no koe sura mo

Since they've all blown into the breeze, since they've all vanished like smoke1

Kaze ni natta kara, awa to kiete-itta kara
I want somewhere to get rid of this synesthetic sentiment Kyoukankaku mitai kono kanshou ha dokoka he nagesutetai
If you're alright with me, if you really want to know Boku de ii no nara, kimi ga shiritai no nara
There's nothing left to hide anymore Mou kakusu koto nante nai yo
Right now, just for a bit - let's dance Ima kara sukoshi dake odorou ze

Ah, I want to quit being human

Aa, ningen nante yametai na
Right? It's not like there's anything fun about it Sou daro, omoshiroku mo nan ni mo nai daro
Ah, that version of me from way back then Aa, jiman no GITA- wo misebirakashita
So proud, showing off his guitar - I want to destroy him Ano hi no jibun wo tsubushite-yaritai yo

All the things I want to convey

Tsutaetai zenbu ha mou
Both summer and winter, on the other side of tomorrow Natsu mo fuyu mo asu no mukougawa de

Since they've all turned into ash, since they've faded and gone away

Hai ni natta kara, awaku kiesatta kara
Find somewhere to get rid of these emotions, too Tou ni nakushiteta kono joudou mo
Though I already lost them long ago Dokoka he nagesutete
If you're alright with that, if you only want to forget Kimi ga ii no nara, tada wasuretai no nara
There's no reason left to hesitate anymore Mou tamerau koto nante nai yo
Like this, 'til dawn - let's dance Kono mama yoake made odorou ze

Ah, I'm going to quit music, you know

Aa, ongaku nanka yamete-yaru no sa
Just as soon as I can depict the you that I remember, exactly as you are Omoide1 no kimi ga hitotsu mo chigawazu egaketara
After all, I can't think of a single other thing I want to do Douse mou yaritai koto hitotsu ienai kara sa
Nothing at all comes to mind Ukabanai kara sa

Since the days have passed me by, me with my understanding of you

Kimi wo shitta mama, hibi ga sugisatta kara
I want somehow to chase down these emotions Douka oitsukitai kono joudou wo
And make them, like this, into a song Kono mama uta ni shitai
If the present is hurting you, then enough with the excuses Ima ga kurushii nara sa, iiwake ha ii kara sa
Come on - let's dance, ok? Aa mou, odorou ze, hora

Having blown into the wind, having vanished like smoke

Kaze ni natta no sa, awa to kiete-itta no sa
This sentimentality Douse warikirenai
Wouldn't satisfy anyways; find somewhere to get rid of it too Kono kanshou mo dokoka he nagesutete
If you're alright with me, if you really want to know Boku de ii no nara, kimi ga shiritai no nara
There's nothing left to hide anymore Mou kakusu koto nante nai yo
Right now, just for a bit Ima kara sukoshi dake
Like this, just for a bit, let's dance Kono mama sukoshi dake odorou ze

1 Technically 泡 (awa) here is foam or bubbles, so a more literal translation might be "popped like a bubble", but I don't think it carries the same tone or associations as 泡 does in Japanese. Due to the fragility of a bubble, they're associated with transience, such as in the common idiom 水の泡になる lit. "to become a bubble on the water's surface", and figuratively, to come to nothing or to be in vain. Here the image is more one of a bubble cast away in the wind, because of which I feel smoke (e.g. "to go up in smoke" or "to disappear in a puff of smoke") is reasonably appropriate and doesn't hurt the imagery/message of the song.

2 A rare instance of 思い出 (omoide) written in its standard spelling, indicating a sense of greater distance/objectivity in this song than in many others.
